The first part of the weekend was dominated by soccer.  Jamie’s team, Purple Galaxy, played in the Jamestown Cup.  They went 0-1, 3-1, 0-3 and did not progress to the championship.   It was two long days in the Williamsburg in a sunny oven.   The boys enjoyed the hotel pool with their friends and cooled off at the Pirates movie while I was able to sneak away for a few hours to Richmond for a baby shower with cherished friends then out for drinks with my mentor.   Lots of driving and general busy-ness.

The Crozet Park pool opened this weekend and the boys and I went Monday with several of their neighborhood friends to test it out.  We went in late afternoon just before the big rainstorm, when the blazing heat had decreased enough to tolerate being in the sun for a bit.  The sky turned grey quickly and in the overcast haze, the water became a bit cool to enjoy.  I don’t know if the pool is always this crowded, but I was grateful for the 2 adult swim periods I had.  Otherwise, teens and preteens dominated the deeper ends, and the toddler set splashed in the shallows.  Still, it’s a luxury to be able to walk to the pool in 5 minutes!
