When I donned full LSU regalia to watch them play Kentucky, they lost their first game of the season. Tonight I wore my LSU sweatshirt and when I left the sports bar at halftime, their mistakes cost them the lead to Alabama and they were trailing by 3. On the way home, I listened to AM 870 broadcasting all the way from New Orleans, and through the crackling could hear that Bama scored again. When I got home, I turned it all off, stripped it all off, and got in a hot bath to ease some of the day’s pain. When I next checked, wearing my nightgown (which has NO LSU insignia!) they had tied, 27-27.
Ultimately, they pressed on to victory, 41-34, moving closer towards the SEC West title and possibly still in the national championship hunt. Only Arkansas may still stand in the way of a superb record in the toughest football conference in the nation.
So my question is, am I jinxing my team by showing team spirit? Or possibly, does monitoring the game only in a nightgown ensure success?????
